Family road trip to WSU (1-2 Apirl 2011) – 700 miles round trip.
On the last day of my kids’ Spring break, we
decided to check out the Washington State University (WSU) campus where our son,
Danny, will be attending this fall. It was over 700 miles of round trip driving.
We have been to Yakima, Spokane, but never been to Pullman where the WSU is
located in the very eastern edge of the Washington State. In essence, we drove
across the state from the West to the East. We stayed overnight across the
University of Idaho at Moscow, Idaho. Moscow is about 8 miles east of Pullman.
Some events like concerts, performance, and etc were going on at Pullman and
Moscow. I could not get a room at Pullman and was lucky to have a room at
Moscow.
On Fri, it was just more than drizzling but
decided to stop by the Snoqualmie Fall. It was the first for my family. I’ve
visited there about 15 years ago and it looked a lot different than 15 yrs ago.
The waterfall looked a lot like a miniature version of the Niagara Fall due to
recent heavy rain: Magnificent, Thundering Noise, Foggy, Abundant Negative Ions,
etc. After passing the Ellensburg (Central Washington), it was getting sunny and
warm along the way to Pullman. Along Hwy 26, about 120 miles stretch to Pullman,
the views of the grain fields and hills seemed monotonous but kept us occupied
for the whole ride. One distinct thing I noticed was the Wind Mill Farm that
consisted of dozens of wind impellers a few miles west of the Ellensburg and 15
miles east of Ellensburg. They were not there two years ago, February 2009.
On Sat, Danny drove all the way to Federal Way
(he drove 300 miles on the return trip). While he was driving, I took some
pictures to cherish our trip.
